Care Instructions for Clay Jewellery

Avoid wearing the earrings when applying perfume, deodorant and hairspray

Remove your earrings when showering or going into the pool/water

Avoid dropping your earrings as the small parts may break

When not in use, store your polymer clay earrings in a container to avoid scratches

With prolonged use, make-up may stain the earrings and dust may be found on their surface.

Care Instructions for Resin Jewellery

Resin jewellery is pretty hard-wearing but to get the best out of your pieces and ensure they last a lifetime please try to adhere to the following advice. This will keep your pieces looking their best and save you having to pay for the resin jewellery to be replaced.

Try to avoid bumping and scratching or sleeping in your resin jewellery. This could damage your jewellery piece. If your piece has an accident, pop us a photo and we will give you some advice. We can to repair or recast for a fee, including pieces from other makers, so long as the resin has not had a reaction to something.

Do NOT submerge your jewellery pieces in water. Resin is NOT waterproof, only water resistant. So please remember to remove your jewellery before showers, swimming, washing up etc.

Store your jewellery out of direct sunlight. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause the resin to discolour and soften.

If your piece is in regular contact with smoke it will usually yellow. However, some of our smoking resin jewellery clients have worn their pieces for years without discolouration.

Avoid exposing your jewellery to harsh chemicals and cleaning products. This includes perfume, hair spray, cleaning solutions, nail polish remover, antibacterial hand sanitiser etc. Solvents will react with the epoxy and cause it to become scaly, yellow, chip or break down completely.

Care Instructions for Brass Earring Findings

Brass charms and earring findings are a beautiful addition to polymer clay and resin earrings. They can make a piece stand out, or even change its entire look. But, there is something important to know about this material. Brass tarnishes. This is due to the nature of the product. The oxygen in the air, water, oil, perfume, make-up, all these elements can cause brass findings to oxidize and tarnish.

To remove tarnish you can clean them with ketchup, a mixture of water and vinegar, or a little lime juice with baking soda. The sour elements will make the brass shiny again, You can also use a special brass tarnish remover and a brass cloth.
